Let’s get into it…
The Question: How do I tackle summer stress?
Summer is a deceptive time.
It should be the best time, surely?
So why isn’t it?
So here’s a 6 minute video guide on what summer stress does and how to tackle it...
(fwd is aiming to have all video content accompanied with a descriptive transcript so that we can benefit from the wisdom and character of all who engage. The descriptive transcript can be found under the video in Youtube.)

The Checklist: Tackling Summer Stress
Three factors and their solutions. Choose what suits you.
Here’s a summary from the video above.
Factor | Symptoms | Solutions |
---|---|---|
Unrealistic Expectations | - Anxiety due to unrealistic expectations | - Set realistic expectations |
Heat Stress | - Increased irritability | - Stay cool and hydrated |
Disrupted Routines | - Stress due to lack of structure | - Establish a consistent routine |
If we can give ourselves permission to do summer our way, then that will go a long way to a less fraught August…
The Pause Portal: Letting it Go
I’ve packed badly and paid for it.
When flying home after 16 months in France
I didn’t get rid of any of the things I had accumulated.
The person at check-in raised their eyebrows
as I put everything on the scales.
The baggage surplus?
Five times more than the plane ticket.
Ouch.
Letting go is a part of moving forward well.
This moment will help you think about letting go.
Steady your breathing, noticing each breath.
Notice the Canada Geese
swimming up the River Teifi
past Poppit Sands.
They are on a journey
but only on our screen for a moment.
Their journey before and after
is unseen but real.
Some things are with us for a season
and then give way to what is needed next.
Thoughts and emotions give way to curiosity.
“Why did I react like that?”
Adversity gives way to experience, empathy and motivation.
“I know there is hope after hurt.”
But for this to happen we need to let go
Let go of thoughts and emotions that have passed
and do not serve you.
Let go of adversity that has passed
and does not serve you.
Say out loud or note in your mind what you are letting go of,
saying thank you for their role
and their departure.
Try it and see what difference it makes to you.
